In spite of the global economic turmoil, the Indian equity market performed remarkably well in 2009, and the growth story is expected to continue through 2010. There has been considerable improvement in domestic saving rates, which is now around 35% of GDP. There has also been a continued increase in the exports of goods and services, from about 5% of GDP in the 1970s to around 23% of GDP last year.
